Bio

Born December 20, 1977. Saltillo, Mexico.  

 

CAROLINA FUENTES started out as a graphic designer, she fell in love with photography while in university.

In 1998, she went to Florence, Italy to study photography with Maurizio Berlincioni, and also worked with him as an assistant. She returned to Mexico and opened her own studio. She works as a photographer since 1999, focusing on fine art, landscape and, portrait. Her photographic projects are mainly focused on landscape and its multiple variations, which she discovers during trips and personal journeys.

 

She has participated in solo and group exhibitions. Her work has been selected as a finalist in diverse contests in Mexico and has twice been awarded the Programa de Estímulo para la Creación y Desarrollo Artístico (Program to Encourage Artistic Development and Creation) by CONACULTA (National Council for Culture and Arts). Her work is found in private and public collections, including the Pago en Especie collection, administered by Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (Ministry of Finance and Public Credit) in Mexico.

She was invited to participate in the most recent project of Centro de la Imagen called PICS: Plataforma de Imágenes Contemporáneas (Contemporary Images Platform), which shows an overview of the emerging photography in Mexico.

 

Carolina is currently living in Queretaro, Mexico, and working on her personal projects.
